Ginger
Gingerols that fire up digestion and fight inflammation.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a rhizome used medicinally for over 5,000 years across South Asia, China, and the Middle East. Its active compounds — gingerols and shogaols — are among the most well-studied anti-inflammatory agents in food.
Good for
- Digestion
- Nausea relief
- Inflammation
Watch for
- Anyone on blood thinners (consult doctor)
Digestion activation
6-gingerol, 8-gingerolGingerols stimulate the production of digestive enzymes and bile. They accelerate gastric emptying — the rate at which food moves from stomach to small intestine — reducing bloating and nausea.
Anti-inflammatory
Gingerols, shogaolsGingerols inhibit prostaglandin synthesis similarly to NSAIDs (ibuprofen class) but without the side effects at food doses. Regular consumption shows measurable reductions in CRP and other inflammatory markers.
Anti-nausea
6-shogaolOne of the most evidence-backed natural anti-nausea agents. Particularly effective for morning sickness and motion sickness. 1g of ginger is equivalent in efficacy to 100mg of dimenhydrinate in some trials.

A 2015 meta-analysis in the Journal of Pain found that daily ginger supplementation reduced muscle pain by 25% compared to placebo. A separate 2012 Cochrane review confirmed ginger's anti-nausea efficacy. Importantly, heat converts gingerols to shogaols — which is why raw cold-pressed ginger has a different (and more potent) bioactive profile than cooked ginger.

- Distance
- 12km
- Restocked
- Every 2 days
- Freshness
- Pressed within 24 hours of purchase
- Notes
- We use fresh rhizome only — dried ginger powder has different and less potent bioactives.
Do
- Consume on an empty stomach for maximum digestive activation
- Morning is ideal — the digestive priming lasts 2–3 hours
Don't
- Don't take if you're on blood thinners — ginger has mild antiplatelet effects
- Don't heat the juice — heat converts gingerols to shogaols, changing the bioactive profile
Fresh ginger and dried ginger are biochemically different products. Heat converts 6-gingerol into 6-shogaol, which is why ginger tea and cold-pressed raw ginger have different effects. Raw gingerols are more potent for digestion; shogaols are more thermogenic. Cold-pressing preserves the raw gingerol profile.
