Thesis

We don't say “trust us.” We say “here is everything — judge for yourself.”

Trust is the scarcest resource in Indian food. Every brand says “pure” and “natural” — nobody proves it. This page is our attempt at the opposite: not a marketing campaign, but a permanent operating principle we can't turn off when it's inconvenient.

The production kitchen with the day's batch log laid open
The open kitchenThe batch log is the first thing on the bench every morning. It stays open all day — anyone who visits can read it.
What we publish
  1. 01

    Every recipe, in full

Exact ingredients, their roles, the order we press them in. Published on this site under Recipes. If you'd rather make it yourself than subscribe, we'd actively prefer that to you drinking a pasteurised alternative. Our moat isn't a recipe — it's the operational work of getting it to your door fresh, every morning.

  2. 02

    Every cost, per bottle

Produce, packaging, kitchen labour, delivery, and margin — line by line. Published quarterly in our unit-economics doc. You should be able to see exactly where your ₹125 goes. No 'proprietary' anything.

  3. 03

    Every ingredient's source

Not just 'local' or 'organic'. The actual market, the actual vendor, the typical distance in kilometres, restocking frequency, and how we verify quality. Listed on each ingredient page.

  4. 04

    Every batch, logged

Batch code, pressing time, QC pass/fail, rejection reason if any. A ledger that grows every day. If a batch is late or rejected, that's recorded too — not hidden.

  5. 05

    Every employee paid fairly

Once we grow beyond a one-kitchen operation, salaries are published. Same model as Buffer: everyone sees the formula and what everyone earns. You should know the people who made your morning bottle are paid what they deserve.

How we prove freshness

Ours lasts 48 hours because it's alive. Theirs lasts six months because it's dead.

Every other beverage brand treats shelf life as a problem to be solved through chemistry. Longer is better. Six months is good. Two years is great. The goal is to defeat time. We treat shelf life differently: it's not a failure, it's a warranty. A bottle labelled “Pressed 04:17, consume by tomorrow” is evidence — visible, concrete, testable — that nothing was added to make it survive longer than it naturally would.

Harder questions, answered
How we source every ingredient
Each ingredient has a named supplier, a purchase date, and a price paid per kilo. We don't buy from aggregators. If the supplier changes seasonally (different farms produce the best amla in November vs. February), both get listed on the ingredient page.
What happens with a bad batch
Every batch runs through a five-point QC at seal: temperature, taste, colour, pH, smell. Any fail and the batch is discarded and logged. We publish the monthly rejection rate — we aim for under 2%. A rejected batch is still paid for by the kitchen, not passed on to subscribers.
What a bottle actually costs us to make
Produce + packaging + kitchen overhead + delivery. Published per product each quarter. Margin is narrow by design — low single-digits on a daily subscription, higher on occasional walk-in purchases. If you want the spreadsheet, email us.
What we do if we're late
Our delivery window is 5 AM to 9 AM. When a bottle runs outside that window we tell you before it leaves — directly, on WhatsApp — and you decide whether to take it, skip, or reschedule.
Why you can see every recipe
Because our moat isn't the recipe. It's operations: doing it at 4 AM, every morning, with the same taste, delivered within three hours. A recipe on this site doesn't let a competitor replicate that. And if a customer would rather make it at home, we'd rather they did that than drink a pasteurised alternative.
Who owns the company
Soma Delights is independently owned and self-funded. No VC, no outside shareholders, no celebrity investors. If that ever changes, this page will say so on the day the paperwork is signed.
What we don't do
We don't run Instagram ads, Meta ads, Google ads, hoardings, billboards, or celebrity endorsements. We don't pay influencers. We don't pay for “partnerships”. The 15–20% of revenue most consumer brands hand to ad platforms — we route into our Partner Program instead. Every rupee of advertising spend is currently zero.
Who we borrowed this from

Radical transparency as a growth strategy isn't something we invented. Three companies we read about carefully when we were thinking this through:

  • EverlaneFashion

Publishes factory addresses, per-garment cost breakdowns, and typical markup. Grew to $100M+ with almost no traditional advertising.

  • BufferTech

Publishes every employee's salary, the formula behind it, and company revenue live. Receives 50,000+ applications a year.

  • PatagoniaOutdoor apparel

Full supply-chain maps, environmental impact data, and public 'don't buy this if you don't need it' campaigns. One of the most trusted brands on earth.

Transparency isn't our marketing strategy. It's the only business model that lets us claim what we claim.
