What it is

Moringa (Moringa oleifera), known as drumstick leaves in South India, is one of the most nutrient-dense plants ever studied — containing 90+ nutrients including all 9 essential amino acids (a complete protein), iron, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and E simultaneously. The leaves are used; the roots are toxic and never consumed.

Who should drink it

Good for

  • Iron and calcium
  • Lactating mothers
  • Sustained energy

Watch for

  • Active thyroid medication users (consult doctor)
What it does in your body
01

Blood sugar management

Isothiocyanates, Quercetin

Isothiocyanates in moringa inhibit gluconeogenesis (liver glucose production) and enhance insulin sensitivity. A 2014 clinical study showed 28% reduction in fasting blood glucose.

02

Complete nutrition in one ingredient

Complete protein profile

All 9 essential amino acids, 156% DV iron, calcium, and vitamins A, C, E simultaneously. Rarely found in a single plant food.

03

Liver protection

Quercetin, Kaempferol

Moringa reduces liver enzyme elevation (ALT/AST) caused by medications and toxins. Consistently hepatoprotective in animal and small human studies.

The science

Moringa's iron content (28mg/100g) is the highest of any green leaf — 3× more than spinach. However, like all plant iron, it's non-heme and requires vitamin C for maximum absorption. We always pair moringa with amla or lemon for this reason. CAUTION: Only leaves are used. Moringa roots contain spirochin, a neural toxin — never juice the roots.

Notes
Year-round availability is a key advantage. We source tender leaves only — older leaves are tougher and more bitter.
Best consumed

Do

  • Pair with lemon or amla — vitamin C is essential for iron absorption from moringa
  • Start with small amounts (25g) — very concentrated nutritionally

Don't

  • NEVER juice moringa roots — they contain spirochin, a neural toxin
  • Don't consume if pregnant without doctor's advice — uterine stimulation possible
Did you know

Moringa is used by the WHO and UNICEF in malnutrition programs across sub-Saharan Africa because a single serving of leaves provides more protein, iron, calcium, and vitamins than any other accessible plant food. For context: 100g moringa leaves has 4× the calcium of milk, 3× the iron of spinach, and 7× the vitamin C of orange.
